Information


Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol or DHCP server is implemented because the students are not permanent in the hostels and they do not have to configure their PC’s.

Requesting New Connection


  • Those who do not have UTP cable, a deposit of RM10 has to be paid before the cable is patched to the hub.
  • Students must put their email ID for their computer name. This is for identification purposes.

General


  • Users are responsible to ensure the security of their own PC.
  • Due to some limitations, intermittent interruptions to the services are expected.
  • No static IP address should be used in the Hostel buildings.
  • Any change of network cards (hence the MAC/Adapter Address) must be notified to CITS.
  • Every computer that is connected to the network must be registered.
  • General computing rules applies.
  • Failure to adhere to these basic rules will result in one or all of the following:
    • Login account to be suspended for 2 weeks
    • Disciplinary action by the STAD
    • Temporary suspension of network connection in the hostel room
    • Permanent termination of network connection in the hostel room
